As the years pass, age increases. Taking a step forward to embrace the future and leave the past behind. Is this what it means to be an adult? Becoming an adult is an inevitable choice. Many transitions occur when becoming an adult. The reality is not as imagined during childhood. Various challenges come our way. What used to be mere thoughts and dreams must now be faced head-on.
Here are some things encountered in adulthood:
- Maturity is not determined by age.
- Not all dreams come true; some must be buried deep, while others can still be pursued.
- We only have control over internal factors in various aspects of life.
- Avoid expecting too much from others.
- People around us will go their separate ways.
- Experience a range of emotions: joy, sadness, anger, disappointment, happiness.
- Everyone has their life priorities.
- And more.
Many aspects of adulthood seem endless when discussed one by one. When life as an adult doesn’t match our expectations, turn it into a challenge where there will be an endpoint because
God wouldn’t provide something beyond human limitations.
The challenges we face make us continually learn. Build the belief that these challenges cultivate ‘values’ within us, making us better. Growing self-value can be achieved through various means, such as sharing with those closest to us, reading books, and opening up to people with the potential to stimulate our minds in pursuing goals.
In reality, our life journey remains on its own track, and we are the ones in control. Becoming an adult is a process, not determined by age, as having the same age or being much older does not necessarily determine mature thinking. Adulthood requires the support of prayers, beliefs, and strength in facing the uncertainties of life.
